THE ROLES
Due to business growth, Zilzie Wines is seeking a dedicated and skilled Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker to join their dynamic team.
WINEMAKER ROLE – Attractive salary base starting from $85,000 plus superannuation based on skills and experience. This role is suitable for an experienced Winemaker with relevant wine making qualifications.
The key responsibilities for this role includes:
- Shared responsibility for all day to day winemaking functions.
- Assist in effective management of winemaking process stream and close coordination with other departments.
- Key role in quality control and ensuring wines are within specification at all times.
- Key support in NPD and winemaking trials
- the mentoring of vintage and junior winemaking staff
Key responsibilities for this role are:
- Supporting the winemaking team as per key performance areas
- Day to day coordination of winemaking processes as directed by the winemaking team and fruit intake schedule
- Assist the winemaking team through vintage in the management of the winemaking process stream
- Supporting the sample preparation and routine quality activities in training and task redundancy
- Drive QC tastings, domestic wine show entries and additive QC checks
THE REQUIREMENTS
- A degree in Oenology or equivalent.
- A passion for and understanding of wine, experience in premium wine making.
- Wine making experience (preferably in a medium to large winery).
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Experience preferably with EZY systems.
- Proven organisational skills and an ability to prioritise workload.
- Viticultural knowledge desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication skills both written and oral.
