Assistant Winemaker - Chateau Tanunda

We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and high-energy candidate to join the Château Tanunda winemaking team to perform and assist in overseeing winery operations. This challenging opportunity requires an individual who has a strong understanding of all aspects of wine production and wine quality.

The role of Assistant Winemaker includes:

• Assisting in the implementation of winemaking programs for our range of wines
• Working hands-on in carrying out day-to-day cellar and lab operations
• Quality control of all winemaking activities
• Timely and accurate documentation
• Blending and preparing wines for bottling.
• Blending and preparing trade samples.
• Assist in public tastings and marketing activities where required

The Assistant Winemaker reports to and works closely with the Château Tanunda Winemakers to ensure all related business goals are achieved. This includes goals relating to wine quality, efficiency and timeliness of day-to-day operations, staff management, WHS, compliance and adherence to company systems, policies and procedures.
Job Requirements The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, passionate about wine, have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and ideally have the following qualities;

• Tertiary qualifications in Oenology or similar
• Current drivers and forklift licences and Responsible Service of Alcohol certification
• At least 2 vintages' experience in cellar operations
• Basic lab work experience
• Attention to detail
• Focus on hygiene and wine quality
• Knowledge and understanding of HACCP and WHS policies and procedures

This role will involve the entire process of winemaking from vineyard to bottle, the hands-on running of the cellar with a focus on safety, quality and hygiene.
