About the Opportunity
The SAC now has a fantastic opportunity for an Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer to join their Great Southern team, based in Albany, WA.
TheAboriginal Community Liaison Officer will work in the areas of Suicide Prevention and early intervention plus support and quality aftercare following a suicide attempt.
The position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is full time with a contracted term up to two (2) years.
To be successful in this position it is essential you have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, respectfully and sensitively with Aboriginal people; demonstrated knowledge of prevention and early intervention on the issue of suicide; demonstrated knowledge of support and quality aftercare following a suicide attempt; and demonstrated capacity to provide crisis support.
It is also important that the applicant has well developed written and verbal interpersonal communication skills plus demonstrated knowledge of community organisations with the skills and experience to build and maintain relationships with them.
Whilst not essential, it is desirable that the applicant holds a tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or a relevant human service / mental health area and/or nationally accredited training in Suicide Prevention.
Please Note: A current driver's licence is a requirement of this position as travel throughout the Great Southern region is required. Applicants must also hold a current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) certificate and Working With Children Check, and be prepared to undergo a Prior Offender History Check.
