Ensuring our research occurs in partnership with community and is guided by a strong Aboriginal voice is essential in our work. This includes developing a research career pathway for Aboriginal students to join the WCVID, which will form the focus of this Aboriginal Development Manager position.This is an exciting position that will see you leverage on your passion to connect with people to develop strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders and community to develop a strategic and operational research pathway program for Aboriginal students, future and current staff in the WCVID.You will have an opportunity to initiate and lead various activities with your key areas of focus including, research pathway development, collaboration and stakeholder management and engagement, developing resources including training materials, and providing support and mentorship.Some of your responsibilities include:
- Building effective relationships with the Aboriginal community, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and Aboriginal University Centres.
- Exploring strategies for recruiting, training and retaining Aboriginal students to take up a career in research.
- Identifying changes required within the WCVID to ensure it is a culturally safe place of employment that is supportive and inclusive.
- Evidence of strong and sustained relationships with Aboriginal communities.
- Demonstrated ability to embed culturally responsive practices in all aspects of your work.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic thinking and operational planning, including implementation and management of programs.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or demonstrated relevant experience.
