Aboriginal Education Program (AEP) Support Officer

- 40 weeks per year (time off during all school holiday breaks)

The Aboriginal Education Program (AEP) Support Officer will work closely with the Aboriginal Education Coordinator, Head of Marcellin Campus, and other relevant staff in order to provide support to the Aboriginal students of Marcellin Campus (Years 10-12). The AEP Support Officer will provide students within the Aboriginal Education Program (AEP) with support in the classroom with their studies, as well as support with school and personal matters.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Assist students of the Aboriginal Education Program (AEP) to access the curriculum, providing support in classrooms and during their designated 'lines off' / study lines;
- With the support of the Aboriginal Education Coordinator, implement appropriate strategies and techniques to assist the students of the Aboriginal Education program with their learning;
- Ensure Abstudy applications are completed and submitted, working in collaboration with the Aboriginal Education Coordinator and Finance Office as required;
- Coordinate travel arrangements for AEP students at the commencement and conclusion of school terms, as well as for EXEAT, in collaboration with the Aboriginal Education Coordinator and Finance Office as required;
- Assist students to complete tasks, working with students one-on-one and in small groups;
- Advocate for the students of the Aboriginal Education Program, communicating with staff in regards to relevant needs or issues for students as required;
- Ensure professional boundaries are established clearly, and maintained with students at all times;
- Understand the policies and regulations of the College, and support students in understanding and respecting these expectations and behaving accordingly;
- Be flexible in working at Champagnat Campus (Years 7-9) AEP students when required;
- Undertake necessary reporting and administrative duties to ensure all matters regarding Aboriginal students are communicated staff and College leadership as required.
The successful applicant must also complete our child-safe screening processes, including holding a Working with Children Clearance.
