About the Unit/Team/Department
The Mental Health and AOD (MHAODS) Service is comprised of eight clinical teams across the MHHS. The Mental Health Service is responsible for the provision of comprehensive, specialised mental health assessment and treatment services across the age-spectrum for people with severe and complex mental health problems. Our services aim to be consumer focused and recovery oriented and are provided in a variety of settings including community, an acute inpatient unit, hospitals and emergency departments.
Your opportunity
A practitioner at this level is able to work autonomously, understands the health system and organisation and can provide specific care; as well as anticipate and set long term goals for clients and the community. Acquired experience with various Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care practices/ or have specialisation.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner will provide a range of clinical primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities including delivering specific health care programs, assessing and treating clients, maintaining health care systems and providing advice and support in order to contribute to better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
This position reports to the Allied Health Director/Continuing Care Services Program Manager, Mental Health Alcohol and other Drugs and has no direct reports.
About the Mackay Hospital and Health Service
has six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres that employ more than 3,300 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
