Job Purpose
The Accountant will support Financial Services by managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, rates and payroll functions. Will assist with reporting, preparation of budgets and end-of-year financial audit statutory reporting obligations.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, rates and payroll functions.
2. Ensure the Council complies with statutory reporting, including STP, monthly BAS, FBT, payroll reconciliation, ATO reporting, and superannuation.
3. Bank and general ledger reconciliations
4. Assist with preparing end-of-year accounts for audits and liaise with external auditors.
5. Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasting.
6. Process and review credit card payments
7. Support council operation managers to manage service budgets.
8. Ensure accurate record management and archiving.
9. Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation of assets.
10. Provide monthly Actual vs Budget reports and variance commentary to Community Managers.
11. Completion of ABS surveys
12. Support accounting team members with leave coverage
13. Any other duties as directed by the Chief Financial Officer and CEO
Selection Criteia:
Education Requirements
1. Tertiary qualifications in accounting
2. Completion or progress towards CA or CPA
Experience and Knowledge Requirements
1. Minimum two years of post-graduate experience in an accounting position
2. Advanced Excel skills, including look-up functions and pivot table creation.
3. Experience in rates
4. Ability to work with numerical information with accuracy and diligence.
5. High-level planning, time management, organisation, and efficiency skills
6. Strong attention to detail.
7. Strong understanding of accounting with proven experience applying these concepts
8. Knowledge/experience with Xero/Council wise and Roubler advantageous
9. Ability to work with minimal supervision, be self-reliant, and be results orientated.

1. Criminal History Check (recent within 3 months)
2. A current Drivers Licence.
