We’re a leading marine supply and repair business with 20-plus years of excellent records in the Maritime Industry. The company is seeking a vibrant, passionate and energetic individual to join our Finance team. The full time Accountant position is based in Melbourne, our head office. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial support and accounting services to the OSS business and ensuring the accurate reporting of the financial and operational results on a monthly basis to the shareholders and management of the group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for performing financial functions related to the collection, recording, analysis and presentation of OSS’s financial operations. Assistance and/or preparation of the financial statements.
· Review to maintain the OSS accounting process and implement changes and improvements as required.
· Ensure all accounting treatment, processes and workflows comply with the accounting standards and company policies.
· Responsible for the coordination and preparation of the budget and full-year forecast.
· Review current trends for expenditures and revenue, followed by making appropriate recommendations regarding spending, finance control, and budgeting.
· Manage end-of-month tasks and preparation of management reports including profit & loss, balance sheet, receivables & payables reports.
· Coordinate and analyse all vessel operating expenses, drydocks, capital expenditures and fleet overhead for both internally and externally managed vessels to ensure all tasks are completed and are in line with OSS standard accounting policies and procedures.
· Develop, analyse and interpret accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against forecast and other matters bearing on the financial soundness and operating effectiveness of the business unit.
· Liaise with various stakeholders on accounting matters such as but not limited to month-end accruals, intercompany billings and settlements.
· Ensure accounts reconciliations are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Perform a review of financial accounts to ensure correct transaction coding and accounting treatment; perform an analytical review of the figures for accuracy.
· Ensure accurate and timely consolidation to the Management on a regular basis to meet listing requirements.
· Responsible for the coordination, full preparation and communication of all related accounting audits in Australia, both internal and external. Support internal reporting requirements for management and statutory compliance
· Maintain internal control system.
· Perform other tasks that may be assigned from time to time that are necessary for service efficiency to the Client and to support department/company goals and objectives.
To be eligible you must:
· Have a Bachelor degree or higher qualification in relevant field of study.
· Minimum 1-2 years of post-qualification accounting experience.

· Previous experience within the maritime industry or transportation industry is a plus.
· Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and organisation skills.
· Attention to details and accuracy.
· Intermediate to advance level in office Excel.
· Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
· A high level of passion, enthusiasm and commitment to customer service.
