Join the team at Athena Hospitality as our Group Accountant and Analyst.
Reporting directly to the Director, this position is a key part of the Finance Department.
Overseeing all taverns and bars within our growing portfolio, the primary areas of responsibility will be to provide clear and accurate financial information, streamline processes and provide analysis to drive the business forward. This role will be based at our newly constructed head office in Surfers Paradise.
Athena Hospitality currently operates 4 gaming hotels with 3 more under contruction; There are plans for considerable growth in the near future.
The role and key duties;
- Prepare and analyse monthly management reports;
- Manage EOM process to ensure timely and accurate management reports;
- Assist cash flow management and advise on statutory payments;
- Prepare general ledger reconciliations monthly, for multiple locations with a focus on resolving outstanding issues;
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks;
- Assist with Year-end close off for tax return preparation by external accountants;
- Statutory compliance – Prepare returns for Payroll Tax, Workcover, Business Activity Statements (BAS), FBT, PAYG & Superannuation guarantee payments;
- Ensure the Accounts Payable and Accounts Payable is on track to deliver timely payment to suppliers by timely signing of invoices through our cloud based systems;
- Assist the payroll with regards to payroll calculations and checking of weekly payroll;
- Leading and mentoring of the finance team;
- All other duties as advised by Management.
Essential criteria required to be considered;
- Minimum of experience in a financial position within the hospitality industry;
- CA/CPA is preferred;
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements;
- Advanced IT and excel skills;
- Extensive finance experience with technical and analytical ability;
- Proven experience leading and developing a high performing team;
- Proven ability and success in delivering change;
- Excellent time management and active attention to detail;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
