About the Role
As an accomplished professional with a proven track record in financial management and team leadership, the role of Accounting Managerwill be dedicated to upholding meticulous financial integrity and control. With a focus on creating a supportive environment for team development, steadfast mentorship, and guidance to nurture the growth of high-performing individuals within the team.
Your objective is to drive efficiency and accuracy across all financial processes, including Joint Venture billings, cost sharing, revenue accounting, and inventory management, while fostering transparent communication and collaboration with corporate finance teams, BU finance teams, and external auditors to ensure compliance and accountability.
Key accountabilities include:
- Provide leadership and manage an effective interface with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and no errors in the monthly accounting close process.
- Ensure that process controls are developed, documented, and embedded ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are accurate. Perform monthly review of accounts reconciliations, research/resolve any issues identified and make recommendations for improvement to the Finance Services Manager.
- JV billings, cash calls are issued on a timely basis and is accurate. Ensuring compliance with the JVOA agreements and that there is effective communication with joint venture partners’ accounting counterparts regarding billings, cash calls and AFE requests, and ad hoc queries.
- Financial monitoring of the Non-operated Joint Venture Assets
- Lead and mentor and actively develop staff and actively manage performance through the establishment of KPIs in accordance with BU strategy.
- Ensure that finance guidelines and controls are documented and test compliance with these requirements across the PNG BU
- Establish a robust program of financial control and governance.
About You
Experience
Essential experience:
- Demonstrated capability to lead large teams and mentor staff.
- Strong technical financial accounting knowledge with a commercially pragmatic approach to interpreting and converting financial accounting standards into practice.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to digest, analyse and critique financial information quickly and effectively.
- Exposure to extractive industries with oil and gas and joint venture experience considered a distinct advantage.
- Substantial experience in a similar role.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Business/Commerce Degree
- Post Tertiary qualified accountant.
- ACA/CPA qualified
