The Cruising Yacht Club of WA is located in the heart of Rockingham overlooking Cockburn Sound. The club has over 900 members, clubhouse, excellent restaurant and function facilities and hardstand accommodating 200 vessels.
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Accounts Officer to join and lead our small finance and admin team. As Accounts Officer you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial processes, monthly and year end reporting, cost tracking and analysis. You will be responsible to ensure financial records are complete, accurate and comply to accounting standards, policies and regulations.
This role will suit a highly motivated individual with strong experience in finance and accounting functions, good team player with effective communicate skill and experience.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Prepare monthly financial statement, supporting schedules and reports to the management team.
- Process payroll – time & attendance records.
- Prepare financial budget and monitor actual versus plan.
- Manage accounts receivable and payables, bank receipts and payments processing, cashflow management and account reconciliations.
- Track and monitor actual cost to projection.
- Assist in project cost savings and forecasts.
- Cash handling and reconciliation.
- Prepare year-end financial statements and audit schedules for year-end audit.
- Prepare and submit BAS, PAYG and other returns to ATO. Liaise with tax Accountants for year-end and FBT tax computation and returns.
- Ensuring work complies with relevant government legislation, company policies and procedures,
- Maintain petty cash, staff claims and reimbursements.
- General office administration support.
- Overseeing the day-to-day function of a small finance and administration team.
Key Skills and Knowledge
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience. Previous experience in hospitality or service industry would be an advantage but not required.
- Accounting/Business Degree or equivalent and with professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
- Experience in MYOB or similar accounting systems with strong computer literacy in MS Office particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong understanding of accounting practice and principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Team player with positive attitude, flexible work approach.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously.
