We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Accounts Officer to become a member of our friendly Billings Team. The successful applicant will maintain a high standard of customer service in all aspects of patient accounts. Accurate reconciliation of all banking, receipting and debt recovery processes for patient accounts and collation of associated work. Maintenance of data and systems for accurate receipting and revenue collection. 

Scope of Practice

Under the direction of the Revenue Manager, key accountabilities for the Accounts Officer include:

  • Daily banking reconciliation and collation of cash & cheques
  • Bank statement reconciliation 
  • Allocate electronic payments from Health Funds & other payers
  • Follow up on unbalanced invoices
  • Perform daily collection calls & answer patient account queries
  • Weekly debtor spreadsheet update and record debt progress notes
  • Simplified Billing reconciliation for sleep Doctor accounts
  • Adjustment journal paperwork preparation and data entry for approval by Revenue Manager
  • Liaise with Finance staff with clarification of issues or audit requirements
  • Create PDF files for data storage
  • Liaise with external providers and health funds
  • Raising and sending hospital claims
  • Ensuring keeping continually updated and informed of any new procedures and other relevant hospital information as distributed by the Revenue Manager 
  • Close liaison with Finance Department and Admissions Office team members regarding patient invoicing requirements

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Vaccinations in accordance with St Luke’s Care Corporate Policy HRM 15
  • A commitment to excellence in service/care delivery
  • Demonstrated professional/positive behaviour, including cultural sensitivity and respect
  • Previous administration experience
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, establish and achieve agreed objectives
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Well-developed verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills, including an excellent phone manner
  • Well-developed computer literacy skills.
