The Administration Officer plays a key role in ensuring that archival records are transported securely within the organisation, and to and from other government departments and agencies. They provide essential support to the Access and Engagement Branch, which increases public access to the Archives’ extensive collection of Australian Government records.
The ideal candidate will have excellent administration and communication skills, will be able to prioritise competing tasks and will be proud to work for the National Archives. The position is based in Mitchell, ACT, in modern facilities, with free parking, is easily accessed by light rail and coffee comes to the front door.
Under general direction the main duties of the Administration Officer role are to:
- Lead and train staff to provide administrative support to the section, including ordering, returning and maintaining control of records, and managing delivery and pick-up of records to and from agencies.
- Work collaboratively to consult and share information with the team, actively engage in knowledge sharing and process improvements to achieve business outcomes.
- Liaise, build rapport and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide appropriate advice and assistance as required.
- Perform the inherent physical requirements of this role which includes repetitive, sedentary, screen-based work and/or the ability to pack, sort, lift and relocate records in accordance with established work health and safety practices and archival principles.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the role you must be an Australian citizen. If you are selected, you will be required to successfully undergo a pre-employment check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Negative Vetting 2 clearance level.
