About the Region: The Maranoa region, located approximately 500km west of Brisbane, covers 58,830km and is home to around 13,000 people. With a proud agricultural history, the region has experienced industrial expansion in the energy and tourism sectors.
Position Overview: To provide administrative support to the Regional Development team by assisting with customer requests, maintaining registers, contributing to department documents and reports, correspondence, and other tasks to maintain Council's service delivery and business systems requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service (Internal and External):
- Provide high quality, proactive customer service for internal and external Council customers via phone, email and in person.
- Enter customer requests via telephone, email and in person and monitor and update with actions taken as required.
- Liaise with customers to provide updates and seek additional information where required.
- Monitor progress reports and assist the department leaders with responding to and "closing out' customer requests.
Administration Functions:
- Prepare a wide range of documents including reports, correspondence, forms and flyers etc.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of files whether electronic and/or hardcopy to ensure full audit compliance.
- Provide courteous and efficient administrative service to internal and external customers.
- Research and collate information, data and statistics and prepare basic reports.
- Assist with the coordination and preparation of meetings and recording minutes.
- Provide general administrative support to various teams across Council and assist with projects and events as directed.
- Contribute to the maintenance of Council's business systems including but not limited to Authority and Council's record management system.
- Monitor and review Council Resolution correspondence and Action Status and follow up on outstanding items as directed by department leaders.
- Assist with the preparation of internal and external correspondence.
- Assist with project administration as required by department leaders.

Mandatory qualifications and licences:
- Current C (Car) Class Driver Licence
Required Skills & Experience:
A strong background in a customer service environment with a passionate and innovative mindset towards improving and optimising customer experience.
- Demonstrated talent for building positive relationships and working in partnership with customers, community groups and organisational teams.
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills with the ability to identify and implement practical solutions to customer issues through a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Strong organisational and time management skills as demonstrated by the ability to work with minimal supervision to achieve work program outcomes and service deliverables.
- Commitment to a team-based approach, with demonstrated ability to work across and in partnership with organisational teams and internal stakeholders to deliver Council services and projects to the required standard.
- Proficient computer literacy skills with the ability to quickly learn and train others in computer programs and online platforms.
- High attention to detail and accuracy of information as demonstrated by the ability to collect, collate, analyse and report on statistical data.
- Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to Maranoa Regional Council's values and team goals.
- Previous experience working in local government or similar environment will be highly regarded but is not essential.
