RN1: Employees classified at this level provide anaesthetic nursing services in health service settings. Employees working within this level develop from novice practitioners to a proficient level of professional practice. They consolidate knowledge and skills and develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience related to anaesthetic nursing. An employee at this level accepts accountability for his or her own standards of nursing/midwifery care and for activities delegated to others.
- Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practising certificate.
RN2: Employees working within this level have been consolidated their anaesthetic experience with further study. Staff at this level developed from competent to proficient practitioners. Accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff. The Anaesthetic Clinical Nurse role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however employees are assigned appropriate portfolios relevant to the anaesthetic nursing department. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities should be negotiated with each employee and be consistent with the career development plan for the employee as determined by their performance review/development plan. The Anaesthetic Clinical Nurse demonstrates advanced practice within the specialised field of employment. The Anaesthetic Clinical Nurse has a high level of understanding within their chosen speciality.

Essential Requirements/Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills:
Experience within the Anaesthetics (minimum 1-2yrs)
Good communication skills
Ability to work within a team environment
Good time management skills
Desirable
Grad Certf/Dip in anaesthetics/recovery
Cardiothoracic/Robotics/Emergency anaesthetic nursing experience
ALS certified
Airway experience
Paediatric anaesthetic/recovery experience
Cell salvage
