About the role:

ConnectEast is looking for a dynamic Application Manager to join our Information Technology department. Reporting to the General Manager of Information Technology, this permanent full-time position provides and exciting opportunity for you to lead a small team in a fast-paced but flexible environment. The Application Manager plays a pivotal and strategic role in driving ongoing operations and future growth of ConnectEast, such as:

  • Working to maintain ongoing IT systems and applications operations for ConnectEast.
  • Managing Subject Matter Experts for all design changes that the business requires to be made to IT systems and applications.
  • Architect solutions for new IT systems and applications.
  • Helping establish ConnectEast as a thought leader in the area of infrastructure usage charging.

The successful candidate will need to (but not limited to):

  • Manage the analysis of problems as they arise within the IT systems and applications. Work with SICE, Kapsch and other suppliers to rectify those problems.
  • Ensure that testing plans for new IT systems and applications releases are developed, executed and passed, and that evidence is stored.
  • Engage with business representatives to understand and clarify business requirements in order to ensure that appropriate IT solutions are delivered to meet that need.
  • Draft IT systems and applications design change documentation as required.
  • Carry out impact analysis of new projects and contribute to the assessment of how a project will impact an existing committed program of work.
  • Develop a preliminary systems architecture (including application, data and technology architecture) at the appropriate stages of a project, or when considering alternative solution options.
  • Work closely with project teams to achieve systems design, implementation activities and problem resolution by contributing to business cases.
  • Participate in IT services vendor selection (or the evaluation of hardware, software and new IT technologies) process by developing specific evaluation criteria and making recommendations therein.
  • Provide impact analysis and options on use of new technologies to address business needs.
  • Keep looking for business improvements opportunities.
  • Monitoring and recommending continuous improvement opportunities for team, such as training.
  • Internal and external stakeholder management.

About you - to be successful in this role you will have:

  • Post-secondary qualifications in an IT related discipline.
  • Significant demonstrable technical and commercial management experience.
  • Significant project management experience in the delivery of complex projects, preferably in infrastructure.
  • Significant experience in the specification and architectural definition of complex IT systems.
  • In depth knowledge covering the whole of the software development lifecycle.
  • Extensive knowledge of systems engineering and architecture definition.
  • Excellent planning and resource management skills to achieve set targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships with others.
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations.
  • Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated use of initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and with others as required.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Understanding of legal responsibilities, obligations and ethical standards as they relate to this role.
