Form of workAs an Apprentice Chef at Moyne Health Services, you will be working with the Hotel Services team under the supervision of a qualified chef to prepare high quality, nutritional meals to our Aged Care Residents as well as recipients of Meals on Wheels within the community.
Our Apprentice Chef is a full time role, worked from Monday to Friday, with the provision of an accrued day off per month. You will also attend South West Tafe regularly during your 3 year apprenticeship in order to complete your Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
About the Role
- Learn to plan, prepare and serve a menu of nutritious meals that are appropriate for a variety of age groups and competencies
- Train in basic culinary skills, knife skills, knowledge of ingredients, use of commercial equipment and kitchen procedures
- Assist to plan, develop and provide a menu on a weekly basis in accordance with current Food Safety regulations and Moyne Health Services' Food Safety Plan
- Work with your mentor to supervise and support catering staff
- Maintain the kitchen environment and equipment in a safe and hygienic manner
- Assist in keeping accurate records including purchase orders, supplier invoices, Meals on Wheels documentation and routine updates
