We are seeking an enthusiastic WHS and Facilities management professional to join our team.
The team is based at Joint Logistics Unit (North Queensland) on Lavarack Barracks Townsville, which is the largest Defence Base in Australia. Lead by an APS 5, the team undertakes WHS duties and facilitates management for the Unit. The area of operations for the Unit is a vast geographic area in North Queensland giving the ideal candidate the opportunity to travel.
The role participates in the delivery of work health and safety services and training. This includes interpreting safety management policies and implementing them across the Unit and; applying technical expertise and guidance on WHS matters. You will contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of work health and safety management.

About our Team
The Joint Logistics Unit, North Queensland is a Townsville based, mixed military and civilian organisation that delivers a range of logistic services to Australian Defence Force elements operating across North Queensland. It also provides logistic advice and support to other government agencies and allied foreign forces on occasions. The Unit has five main sites over a large geographic footprint across North Queensland.
This position is a critical APS contributor to the achievement of strategic Defence capabilities in the North Queensland Region and is a role in which public servants can broaden their personal profile and gain significant experience that will assist them to progress their career.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of and compliance to relevant WHS legislative frameworks, or the ability to obtain this knowledge. They will have experience in WHS in moderately complex environments, warehousing and distribution, light industry or logistics.
They will have experience in facility management and maintenance. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage, respond and provide technical expertise to a range of stakeholders on moderately complex operational environment. They will have a desire to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
