Project Officer
- $116,223 per annum + superannuation
- Full Time, fixed term role for 12 months
- Hybrid, flexible working - Geelong based role which requires attendance between Geelong office and Melbourne Collins Street office
Purpose
This is a unique opportunity to be a part of some of WorkSafe's leading strategic initiatives focused on developing new strategies, supporting the organisation to meet its performance targets associated with our critical measures.
As the Project Officer you will support and lead a particular program of work focused on sustainable and renewable energies, focusing on coordinating wide spread engagement both internally and externally, including at Senior Leadership Management levels, to support the development of a new strategy.
A major part of this position will involve end to end management of projects that make a valuable difference to employers and workers, spanning across health, safety and compensation related fields. It is a role aimed towards developing strength in Project Management experience, being an integral role within the Project Management career pathway, helping project professionals within WorkSafe to learn and build on their area of expertise.
Using project management frameworks and fit for purpose techniques, the Project Officer will be responsible for supporting the effective management, execution and reporting of relevant projects, including being a vital support to the project team and vendors, and co-ordinate the deliverables to achieve the agreed strategic improvements spanning across people, process and system.
Key accountabilities of this role will include:
- Partner with key stakeholders and business owners to plan and coordinate an engagement approach, including developing and maintaining effective relationships, including vendor management support
- Provide project management expertise through planning, scheduling and management of critical project activities and deliverables
- Support the development, preparation and strategic alignment of the business case, including project papers and reporting
- Support the analysis and best approach required to build systematic solution options required for the change
- Support the management of project financials, governance and risk management framework
- Developing reporting materials for project, program or status meetings including secretariat support for internal governance or steering committee meetings
- Apply a flexible approach to project management methodology that will support the planning, build and delivery process

About you
You will have exceptional project management skills, the ability to effectively respond to changing and competing demands, along with an ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive outcomes is essential.
In addition, the role also requires research & analysis skills and extensive experience in legislative and regulatory reform and the government sector. You will also possess the following skills and experience:
- Experience supporting medium to large scale projects, with demonstrated use of strong project management methodology to deliver outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience establishing and maintaining key strategic relationships with a broad range of diverse stakeholders, including leadership audience engagement, to successfully deliver business projects
- Project lifecycle experience understanding the planning and delivery of projects in their entirety including experience in PRINCE2, PMBOK, Waterfall and/or Agile delivery methodologies.
- Ability to scope, manage and identify activities to develop and maintain impact assessments and project plans to schedule and budget
- Understanding of Worksafe's operating environment and systems, including WorkSafe's Project Management Framework, or ability to acquire is desirable.
- Experience working with WorkSafe's stakeholders, including inspectorate, is desirable to help support successful project delivery
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications, and or relevant business experiece
- Accreditation in PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile or related project methodology disciplines is highly desired, but not essential
