As the Systems Engineer Submarine Abandonment Escape & Rescue (SAER) in the Collins Submarine Program, you will perform an important role in the sustainment of the SAER Systems and delivery of enhancements to the current SAER system. You will work in a dynamic and diverse environment requiring a number of key skills to undertake the following tasks:Perform activities and tasks relating to requirements development, system definition, design and development, integration, verification and validation, testing and working to agreed priorities and outcomes.
- Deliver systems engineering services and products through planning, organisation control and integration.
- Apply knowledge and experience to undertake objective and systematic analysis to develop system-engineering products to meet Defence objectives.
- Implement processes across the systems engineering lifecycle using technical and professional knowledge and experience.
- Work collaboratively with SERS Project Manager and SERS Naval Architect to understand their requirements and solve issues as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Communicate with stakeholders and line management regarding engineering and technical aspects across the Defence materiel capability lifecycle including preparing briefs, proposals, reports and presentations.
- Interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks in the preparation and approval of technical submissions, estimates, specifications and documents.
- Analyse systems engineering issues using knowledge and experience to identify and recommend solutions.
- Willingness to develop knowledge and experience of Hyperbaric Systems and offshore lifting requirements.
- This role involves both onshore and occasional offshore tasking in Australia and possibly overseas
The Collins Submarine Program within the National Shipbuilding Sustainment Group (NSSG) is responsible for the maintenance and programmed upgrade of Australia’s Collins Class submarines. The Program works in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy and Industry to deliver the strategic submarine capability to the nation. The Submarine Abandonment, Escape and Rescue team is an integrated team of Engineers, Product, Project, and Contract Managers that operate as a function within the Collins Submarine Program. The team is responsible for the management of the Submarine Rescue System and Submarine Abandonment, Escape and Rescue sustainment activities. The Submarine Abandonment, Escape and Rescue System is an Enabling Element for the Collins Class Submarines.
