About the Role:
As an APS 6 Policy Officer, you will be an integral part of the team spearheading the Basin Plan Review, utilising your expertise in policy, strategy, and scientific analysis. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducting in-depth research and analysis to support diverse policy issues within the Review.
- Contributing to the development and testing of innovative policy options for various aspects
- Engaging and coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, Indigenous groups, NGOs, and Basin communities.
- Preparation of comprehensive briefing materials, reports, and operational documents.
- Drafting policy documents, position papers, and reports on both global and local water management issues.
- Analysing the regulatory framework of the Murray-Darling Basin to facilitate the review and revision of the Basin Plan.
- Collaborating across teams and stakeholders to identify and develop groundbreaking policy and regulatory options.
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Public Policy, Law, Water Quality Management, or related disciplines.
- Proficiency in policy interpretation, strategic thinking, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of social, economic, environmental sciences relevant to policy development.
- Understanding of water management regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed team environment.
