Job description

Our participants, Our people, Our purpose
Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
Join the dynamic team in our Partners, Providers, Home and Living Group as an APS5 Executive Assistant at the NDIA. We’re on the lookout for three experienced individuals to join the team and play a pivotal role in providing professional administrative, secretarial and research support to our General Managers. Within the Partners, Providers, Home and Living Group, there are three divisions – Partners, Home and Living, and Providers and Market Coordination. Our team oversees comprehensive disability support programs, including Partners in the Community, while strategically guiding both capital and non-capital supports within the Home and Living market. We coordinate engagements to optimise outcomes for providers and participants, actively shaping the future of disability support.
Where you can add value
In this role, your expertise will significantly contribute to our team’s success. Your role will be pivotal in fostering a smooth workflow, contributing to strategic decision-making, and addressing challenges with professionalism and efficiency. Your key responsibilities will include:
Managing emails, appointments and preparing briefing material.
Maintaining a well-developed understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
Organising travel arrangements and supporting official functions on behalf of the General Manager, and other agency staff as directed.
Identifying and contributing to the resolution of issues and problems as they arise.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience as an Executive Assistant. Your excellent organisational and time-management skills will enable you to prioritise tasks effectively. Your communication skills both written and verbal, will emphasize your attention to detail. You will be able to adapt and evolve to incorporate additional business area specific tasks based on the evolving direction of the agency. You bring with you a positive and eager attitude, and most importantly you act with integrity and show care for the people you work with. Knowledge and experience within the government sector is desirable and would enhance your suitability for this role.
Your NDIA Experience
We work as one team. We are accepting, diverse and driven. We take a shared approach to making progress. We welcome and support each other and encourage different ideas, insights and opinions. We empower and enable each other to be our best. We collaborate, connect and work together to create a workplace that makes us proud. And while we are based far and wide across the country, we make sure nobody feels they are out on their own.
At NDIA you will have access to higher superannuation and above market leave entitlements, competitive remuneration and working conditions that support a positive work life balance and work for a progressive agency focussed on ongoing professional development and learning. This role is ideally performed from Geelong or Richmond. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 18 months may be offered. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
