Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

We have an exciting opportunity for an APS6 Learning and Development Instructional Designer to join the Recruitment and Staff Development Branch. Use your instructional design skills to analyse learning needs and produce creative and impactful learning experiences that support the Agency’s curriculum.

The Branch supports the Agency to manage talent and staff performance, provides the Agency’s recruitment and onboarding services and supports delivery of the Agency’s Learning and Development and leadership development programs.

Where you can add value

The APS6 Learning and Development Instructional Designer will play a key role developing end to end learning experiences, applying inclusive design principles to support different learning styles and audience needs. They will develop strong stakeholder relationships, identifying business goals and learning needs.

Responsibilities of the role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Using industry leading methodologies and adult learning theories to create, review and evolve learning resources, including facilitated and self-directed tools and templates.
  • Developing engaging eLearning solutions utilising a range of design software including Articulate Storyline or other eLearning authoring tools.
  • Oversee projects from conception to completion.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to think creatively and critically to design and evaluate engaging learning experiences. They will hold strong Microsoft Office, visual design and eLearning skills, together with project management and organisational expertise.

They will value social inclusion and diversity and have a positive contemporary attitude to people with disability, along with a high level of understanding and knowledge of disability and its impact on individuals.

A background in Government instructional design or graphic/visual design roles and adult education will be highly regarded.

While this role is ideally performed from ACT -Deakin, NSW – Surry Hills, QLD – Brisbane, SA – Adelaide, VIC – Richmond, VIC – Geelong, WA – Perth, TAS – Hobart, NT – Darwin, other NDIA locations may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
