APS6 Program Officer

A large city based Government Department are looking for a candidate at the APS6 level to assist with the delivery of programs that deliver economic and employment opportunities for Norfolk Island. The team is responsible for providing oversight and advice on the delivery of local and state services, designing new services, developing and amending legislative frameworks, coordinating legal advice and liaising with State and Commonwealth Government.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage/assist with contracts with service providers and review monthly reports
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of wider agency policies and objectives
- Prepare and coordinate correspondence including briefs and other documents
- Manage procurement and contract management
- Provide input and oversight on budget measures for the section
- Provide high quality secretariat services including logistical coordination of meetings, preparation of complex papers and minute taking
To be shortlisted for interview, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated skills in policy and/or programs
- Familiarity with contract management/procurement and related processes
- Research and problem solving skills
- Strong writing skills to brief on complex issues
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and work collaboratively within the branch
- Outstanding communication skills and time management skills
The role may require occasional interstate travel as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
