Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 500,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
The Procurement and Corporate Services Branch support the NDIA business areas by providing corporate, procurement and property services.
The Property Strategy and Capital Works Section is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of the NDIA property strategy, the associated fit-out of sites and capital works.
The APS6 Project Officer will be required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. It may be required to coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the NDIA’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme”.

The successful applicant can expect to complete the following tasks:
- The APS6 Project Officer role will require the development and management of property project plans and schedules in a fast-paced environment.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project needs are met and delivered on time and budget.
- Coordinate regular project reporting including status updates and exception reports.
- Monitor project budgets, review and report on expenditure and assist with procurement and contract management.
- Contribute to project quality management to ensure that project deliverables are fit for purpose and meet client needs.
- Prepare draft written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation.
The ideal candidate will possess a positive and eager attitude towards coordinating a variety of different property capital works project activities. They will have a demonstrated ability to work to challenging timeframes.
Using strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills to support the delivery of property projects.
You will have:
- The ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure Agency objectives are delivered on time and in budget.
- Demonstrated knowledge in capital works and/or managing a project to achieve a suitable outcome.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide clear and concise reports and presentations to the executives.
- Experience in procurement and/or contract management (Government experience is highly desirable).
- Qualifications or certifications in project management is preferred but not essential if there is demonstrated experience and knowledge.
