I am partnered with a Federal Government Agency in the heart of Geelong to recruit an APS6 Senior Events Officer for a 12-month, full-time temporary assignment with the potential to extend. Your new role
The Senior Events Officer is a pivotal role within the agency. With the potential to work across the team’s service offer, this position requires a skilled professional with a strong background in event management, capable of planning, executing, and evaluating a diverse range of events to ensure their success. As the Senior Event Officer, you will be at the forefront of event planning and organisation, playing a crucial role in shaping the agency's presence at industry summits, conferences, workshops, seminars, and forums. With a focus on delivering exceptional experiences, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align event objectives with the Agency’s goals, ensuring that each event serves as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and engagement.
What you'll need to succeed
Relevant experience in event management, preferably in a large organisation setting.
Proficiency in using MS Teams in a hybrid event environment.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers.
Budget management experience.
Proficiency in risk assessment and management, ensuring events comply with relevant regulations and policies.
Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain networks.
Able to negotiate effectively by listening to differing ideas and views, to develop a clear understanding of the issues, and to present persuasive counterarguments.
