APS6 Senior Governance OfficerThe APS6 Senior Governance Officer will have a sound knowledge of research governance processes and policy interpretation and development. The position will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work. They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of complex research methodologies and procedures, as well as the ability to understand and interpret results and translate these outcomes to impact Departments capability.The APS6 Senior Governance Officer may supervise and lead subordinate team members and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows. They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit. They will exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.The APS6 Senior Governance Officer will have a considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Departments outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.The duties of the APS6 Senior Governance Officer includes the following:
- Develop and review a range of correspondence and papers, provide editing and quality assurance checks.
- Prioritise governance activities and tasks and take the initiative to progress work to meet business objectives.
- Work collaboratively, build and sustain effective relationships and provide constructive feedback.
- Represent the Department at internal and external meetings, especially where the Directorate provides the secretariat function.
- Accountable for the development and implementation of policies, processes and procedures consistent with the Departments governance requirements and systems.
- Analyse information for continuous improvement opportunities, resolve problems and implement alternative courses of action.
