The Area Manager Armour Shop is responsible for overseeing the Armour Shop employees and ensuring all production schedules are met in full to the appropriate deadlines. This will include ensuring all Armour Shop equipment, work orders, and quality documentation is reviewed on a daily basis.
As Area Manager Armour Shop, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Leading, managing and driving a continuous improvement culture across the AS;
- Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner and demonstrating a strong commitment to MILVEHCOE values of passion, accountability, respect, teamwork and innovation;
- Lead and review all composite/hybrid Bonding procedures with the AS & General production area as required;
- Review and assist all Work Instructions received from RM Bonn focusing on Ceramics and Bonding Practices;
- Consistently promotes high standards through personal example, motivating team to enable each member meets required health & safety, quality and production requirements;
- Supervises and trains Production team members to ensure that Bonding & Ceramic's activities are conducted in accordance with approved procedures and completed within the designated time;
- Develops problem solving skills within the team to improve morale and productivity;
- Communicates and monitors team members' individual performance and development plans and conducts regular appraisals, so that each employee is aware of company's expectations of them;
- Applies strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines;
- Liaises with planning, quality assurance and purchasing departments as required;
- Releases and prioritizes work orders for composite packing, equipment and alloy packing;
- Trains and promotes Lean Six Sigma methodologies in the workplace;
- Assists in managing employee related issues: timesheets, leave applications, minor disciplinary procedures; and
Build & assists in improving stock control through timely stock take, cycle counts and reconciliations.
About your new team
The international team is working in our temperature controlled Armour Shop inside the Production-warehouse building. The team is made up of around 10-15 people and are split up into 4 areas. The tasks are equally split in between material cutting, pressing, cutting (waterjet), and bonding in the finishing area.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- A relevant trade qualification (including Machine Operation, Tool Making, Hydraulic, Electrical and Pneumatic systems);
- At least 10 years of post-qualification experience operating machines and working within manufacturing industries;
- At least 5 years of experience in a supervisor or foreman position in a related production industry;
- Good understanding of composite processing technologies and equipment;
- Be open to learning new processes and machinery;
- The ability to travel interstate and potentially overseas for supplier visits and training; and
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
