Operations Manager to provide administrative oversight of the SCM’s large ensembles, opera and music theatre performance programs. This role will ensure the operational and logistical coordination of the School’s extensive performance programs including regional and international tours.The role will require work flexibly, including evening and weekends as required. You may also be required to travel domestically and internationally from time to time.
Your key responsibilities will be to:- oversee all aspects of event planning and execution scheduling, venue coordination, technical requirements, staffing, and budget management to ensure seamless logistical support for performances, concerts, productions and tours
- oversee preparation of communications and correspondence to staff and students including rehearsal and performance schedules, orchestral rosters, staging diagrams, program content and collection of music folders
- serve as the primary point of contact for guest artists, conductors, soloists, and ensemble leaders including the coordination of travel arrangements, accommodation and other logistical requirements
- develop and implement a comprehensive artistic programming strategy that aligns with the SCM’s strategic mission and values
- negotiate performance contracts, agreements, and licensing arrangements with artists, agents, vendors, and other external partners
- provide leadership, coaching, professional guidance and mentoring to all team members, including the annual PP&D of direct reports.
About you- tertiary qualifications in performing arts or similar, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience or education
- demonstrated experience in leading a team, including the supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of staff, and experience managing and resolving a diverse range of HR issues
- knowledge of orchestral set ups, ability to draw orchestral diagrams and awareness of special needs of ensembles for rehearsal and performance
- demonstrated music literacy and ability to read music scores
- familiarity with orchestral and concert management systems such as Artifax
- high level of competency of MS Suite
- outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, coupled with highly developed organisational skills and an ability to effectively manage a constant volume of work under strict deadlines.
