The Role
As a Data Analyst at ASD, you will play a critical role in supporting the enabling functions of one of the largest organisations within the National Intelligence Community.
Within the REDSPICE Implementation Branch, the role will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex reporting and analysis work within an integrated workforce. Key success factors include the use of software to support the delivery of new and ongoing reporting, including experience in (or demonstrated ability to acquire skills in) the use of visualisation tools such as Power BI as well as the Atlassian tool suite for delivery of reporting to stakeholders.
REDSPICE Implementation Branch is seeking multiple candidates to fill vacancies at the ASD EL1 level.
EL1 Data Analyst
- Accountable for managing and leading the Data Analytics & Reporting Team (DART) within the REDSPICE Implementation Branch, including growing team capability, setting priorities, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing staff.
- Provide overarching guidance in the ongoing build and development of dashboarding, business intelligence and other reporting in support of REDSPICE and wider ASD objectives.
- Uplift and sustain Atlassian suite reporting to a mature capability across the REDSPICE program and support uplift of capability at an agency level, while maintaining data integrity and increasing user engagement.
- Development of a data governance framework and strategy for enhanced data management, including the build of data models/ data warehousing solutions.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their business needs and expectations in order to build, sustain and make informed changes to reporting. This includes responsibility for the compilation of briefs and demonstration of output to senior management.
- Apply sound decision-making and judgement to provide guidance and advice to the team and other stakeholders in meeting reporting requirements.
- Build and sustain effective relationships within the REDSPICE Implementation Branch and the wider REDSPICE Program and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.

ASD is entering an exciting phase of growth, innovation and transformation. Our agency has committed to delivering REDSPICE, which is the most significant single investment in the Australian Signals Directorate’s 75 years.
The REDSPICE Implementation Branch is responsible for the provision of project and program management support and guidance to the REDSPICE program. The Data Analytics & Reporting Team (DART) supports the delivery of a range of reporting and analysis, both within the Branch and in support of other areas of the REDSPICE program and across the Agency. We also provide subject matter expertise in the use of Atlassian tools to support reporting at a REDSPICE program level.
The Data Analyst will play an essential and hands on role in working with stakeholders to capture their reporting requirements and helping to translate those into reports, including data visualisations and dashboards. The role will also be heavily involved in supporting and growing the existing reporting capability, including capturing and checking changes to underlying data on a regular basis.
The Data Analyst will be a highly organised, dynamic, outcome orientated individual with very good communication skills.
