As a Data Analyst at ASD, you will play a critical role in supporting the enabling functions of one of the largest organisations within the National Intelligence Community.
Within the REDSPICE Implementation Branch, the role will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex reporting and analysis work within an integrated workforce. Key success factors include the use of software to support the delivery of new and ongoing reporting, including experience in (or demonstrated ability to acquire skills in) the use of visualisation tools such as Power BI as well as the Atlassian tool suite for delivery of reporting to stakeholders.
REDSPICE Implementation Branch is seeking multiple candidates to fill vacancies at the ASD5 or ASD6
ASD5 Data Analyst:
- Under limited supervision as part of the Data Analytics & Reporting Team (DART), contribute to the build and maintenance of reporting, including the development of dashboards and other business intelligence.
- Provide support in the use of the Atlassian tool suite, in particular Jira & Confluence, for reporting and program management.
- Coordination and administration of support for users, including onboarding new users onto the Atlassian tool suite and coordinating user participation in training courses.
- Under limited supervision, contribute to ad hoc reporting and analysis tasking, while performing quality assurance on data captured from source systems.
- Support the build of interactive forms allowing users to capture data for reporting purposes, including via Microsoft Lists and SharePoint.
- Provide support for reports, presentations, and other materials to demonstrate the team’s reporting capabilities and elicit feedback.
- With supervision, engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their expectations and concerns, in order to provide tailored reporting and support for decision-making.
- Build and sustain effective relationships within the REDSPICE Implementation Branch and the wider REDSPICE Program and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.
ASD6 Data Analyst:
- Build and maintain a range of reporting to stakeholders, including dashboarding and other business intelligence solutions, with a particular focus on the use of Power BI, as part of the Data Analytics & Reporting Team (DART).
- Supervision of more junior Commonwealth staff and/or contractor resources within DART.
- Support the use of the Atlassian tool suite, in particular Jira & Confluence, for reporting and tracking of REDSPICE program performance.
- Contribute to ad hoc reporting and analysis tasking, while performing quality assurance on data captured from source systems.
- Analyse and interpret patterns and trends to identify and communicate insights to stakeholders.
- Build of interactive forms allowing users to capture data for reporting purposes, including via Microsoft Lists and Sharepoint.
- Development and delivery of reports, presentations, and other materials to demonstrate the team’s reporting capabilities and elicit feedback.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their expectations and concerns, in order to provide tailored reporting and support for decision-making.
- Build and sustain effective relationships within the REDSPICE Implementation Branch and the wider REDSPICE Program and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.

ASD is entering an exciting phase of growth, innovation and transformation. Our agency has committed to delivering REDSPICE, which is the most significant single investment in the Australian Signals Directorate’s 75 years.
The REDSPICE Implementation Branch is responsible for the provision of project and program management support and guidance to the REDSPICE program.
The Data Analytics & Reporting Team (DART) supports the delivery of a range of reporting and analysis, both within the Branch and in support of other areas of the REDSPICE program and across the Agency. We also provide subject matter expertise in the use of Atlassian tools to support reporting at a REDSPICE program level.
The Data Analyst will play an essential and hands on role in working with stakeholders to capture their reporting requirements and helping to translate those into reports, including data visualisations and dashboards. The role will also be heavily involved in supporting and growing the existing reporting capability, including capturing and checking changes to underlying data on a regular basis.
The Data Analyst will be a highly organised, dynamic, outcome orientated individual with very good communication skills.
