About the Opportunity
Join us in the pivotal role of Asset Manager at the Christmas Island Immigration Detention Centre. This full-time permanent position requires leading a team of direct reports and collaborating with contracting companies to ensure the delivery of Preventative (PM) and Reactive Maintenance (RM) services across diverse assets. As the Asset Manager, you will drive operational effectiveness, ensuring day-to-day activities align with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and service standards. You will work closely with the Site Services Manager (SSM) and the Senior Management Team to oversee the efficient delivery of contractual asset management services to the Australian Border Force (ABF) and The Department of Home Affairs.
To be successful for this role, you must be willing to relocate to Christmas Island. Permanent residents from the mainland will be highly regarded.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide effective leadership for direct reports
- Lead the day-to-day FM operations across the facility
- Prepare technical specifications, contract documents and consultancy briefs as required to deliver asset management objectives and deliver CAPEX project works
- Ensure any sub-contractors meet all Serco internal compliance requirements before commencing any on site work such as Smartek compliance, appropriate insurances, ABN and business information, and have completed any facility induction activities.
- Monitor procedures, processes and policies identifying improvements where appropriate in the delivery of all site services.
About you - your ideal skills & experience
An influential leader, you will have experience managing large multi-disciplinary teams including contractors, delivering PM and RM maintenance to a diverse range of assets. You will be able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of, and experience with the technical details of building fabric, structure and engineering services and an understanding of standards and practices is also required. You enjoy being stakeholder focussed, can think on your feet and show initiative. You are a respectful and professional person who demonstrates.
- Tertiary Qualifications or relevant experience in asset management, maintenance management, facilities management or business management
- Trade Qualifications or relevant experience in Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, and or other relevant trade associated disciplines
- Demonstrated experience in the Facilities Management Ability and commitment to implement Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunities and Affirmative Action strategies
- Demonstrated experience in business management across a diverse work force
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, employees, customers, contractors and other stakeholders
