Assistant Accountant
About the role
Join us in this dynamic role where you'll immerse yourself in financial accounting, supporting operational performance and ensuring accurate financial reports. Manage Fixed Asset Equipment and intangible assets, while also assisting with small elements of accounts payable functions such as credit card processing. As a vital member of our team, you'll handle general ledger journals, bank account allocations, and reconciliations, making meaningful contributions from day one.

This hybrid role is based on the Sunshine Coast, with office presence required Tuesday to Thursday and the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays.
Key priorities:
- Perform monthly financial tasks like journal entries and reconciliations to maintain accurate reporting.
- Resolve bank reconciliation discrepancies in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Provide financial insights to support operational departments.
- Manage asset processes ensuring compliance with standards.
- Facilitate interdepartmental asset management.
- Assist with corporate credit card processing.
- Engage in ongoing skill development.
- Support team members during peak periods.
- Contribute actively to Finance team objectives.
- Identify process improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with auditors to ensure compliance.
- Contribute to special projects as they arise.
- Uphold financial regulations and internal policies.
About you
You will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant business field.
- Previous experience in a similar role is highly valued.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in problem-solving and analytics, ensuring timely task completion.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word.
- Preferred but not required experience in the General Insurance Industry.
- Familiarity with GST legislation.
- Commercial acumen, adept at fostering relationships across all organisational levels.
- Demonstrated integrity and professional accountability.
- Adaptability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
- Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities.
- Dedication to continuous learning and professional growth.
