The opportunity:
We are on the lookout for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team based at our Richmond Support Office! Reporting directly to Senior Financial Accountant, the Assistant Accountant is responsible for assisting the Senior Financial Accountant in carrying out professional accounting duties in line with the group timetable, and assist in the maintenance of the general ledger system to ensure accuracy and integrity of data and reporting.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation of monthly accounts to trial balance and review balances / transaction, preparing journal adjustments as required.
- Prepare reconciliations for all relevant general ledger accounts monthly and follow up any outstanding issues in a timely manner.
- Prepare reports as directed and investigate variances on a timely basis
- Assist interim and final year end audit file for external auditors and liaise with auditors.
- Prepare and process standing journals, accruals, prepayments and various adjusting journals into ERP system (AP21) in accordance with the month end timetable.
- Maintain FAR including any work-in-progress (WIP) account; update all CAPEX for sites and prepare depreciation journal on a regular basis
- Assist the commercial finance team with any forecast/budget information requests.
- Assist in preparation of financial data for submission to external bodies as required.
The skills and experience you offer us:
- Bachelor Degree in accounting / finance / commerce
- Practical accounting knowledge and experience (1-2 years)
- Part-qualification or newly qualified in a professional accounting institute (i.e. CPA or CA)
- Sound administrative / time management ability
- Advanced Excel skills
