Role Overview
Reporting into the Senior Financial Accountant, this Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of month end. On a monthly basis, you will prepare the bank reconciliation, post journals including prepayments and accruals, prepare and lodge the BAS and manage the fixed asset register.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports including variance analysis with commentary. This role will give you the opportunity to develop into a financial accountant and engage with key stakeholders in the business.
Responsibilities
- Banking reconciliations
- Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Ownership of Fixed Assets Management
- Assisting with month-end close
- Intercompany recharges and reconciliations
- Preparation and lodgement of business activity statements (BAS/GST)
- Accruals, prepayments, and general journal postings.
- Assisting with audit and taxation.
- Contribute to process improvements.
- Completing ad-hoc tasks
- Contributing to projects
Candidate Profile
You are highly energetic and analytical in your thinking, You are Commerce or Accounting qualified with a CA or CPA (or on the path to completion) and have a strong understanding of a large P&L. Ideally coming out of a retail or FMCG organisation you will have exposure to a complex fast-paced environment. With exceptional communication skills that you leverage in shaping positive working relationships, you are flexible in working through ambiguity and have a passion for continuous improvement, taking things to the next level is at the core of who you are.
