Assistant Accountant

Edward Mann are recruiting for a national not-for-profit organisation based in Nowra, NSW.

They are looking for an Assistant Accountant to work closely with the Finance Manager and CFO to provide financial support for projects.

It is a permanent position, paying up to 80k + Super + 18.5k salary packaging (equivalent of circa 98k outside of NFP/Charity, after tax).

This is a full-time position, but adjustments can be made to create a 4 day working week, they also provide a flexible working environment and fantastic company benefits.
 

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining Project, fixed/property asset related accounts, records and reports.
• Monthly reporting, including GL account reconciliations, actual spend and variance to budget.
• Reviewing and processing of project related consultant, subcontractor, vendor, and supplier bills.
• Finalise and close off project WIP, funding and income accounts.
• Create and maintain any required external funding reporting as required.
• Obtaining market valuations for any finalised projects, transferred properties.
• Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required.
• Review AP invoices against purchase orders to ensure they align with internal procedure.
• Conduct a weekly audit of AP invoices and provide reports of any trends or concerns.
• Preparation of journal entries to recognise monthly depreciation expenditure.
• Preparation of annual asset write off/disposal recommendation.
• Reviewing purchase requests, obtaining quotes, and recommending preferred suppliers.

• Strong excel skills and systems savvy – Able to pick up and use new systems quickly.
• Comfortable being a self-starter who can work independently with a high level of initiative.
• Willingness to be involved and do tasks as necessary.
• Must enjoy working on different projects and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
