About the role
This position is a permanent full-time role in the Finance team, based at Moruya Administration Office. The Assistant Accountant will support and assist the financial accounting function and other services provided by the finance section.
Your main duties will include:
- Providing support to the Financial Reporting Accountant.
- Assisting with preparation of annual financial accounts and quarterly budget reviews.
- Assisting with the integrity of general ledger and accounting information system, and ensuring all relevant general ledger accounts are reconciled monthly.
- Preparing and assisting with grant acquittals, surveys and statistical returns.
- Assisting with systems training and internal audit/control checks.
- Providing excellent internal and external customer service.
Salary Information
Total remuneration for the role is in the range $81,507.08 to $96,963.89 gross per annum consisting of:
- $73,429.80 to $87,354.86 base salary
- $8,077.28 to $9,609.03 superannuation (at 11%)
A satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check is required for appointment to this position.

About you
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to add value to an exciting and dynamic team in delivering Council’s financial accounting requirements. If you are organised, computer savvy with sound understanding of accounting principles and a great communicator, we would love to hear from you! Your application should further demonstrate the following:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications combined with practical experience.
- Ability to prepare financial reports and reconciliations.
- Ability in applying analytical and problem solving skills to accounting issues/projects.
- Excellent teamwork, public relations and customer service abilities.
- Skills in Accounting software applications, Excel, and other Microsoft Office products.
