Foodbank WA is looking for an Assistant (and Relief) Branch Manager for the Perth branch. This role ensures we are focusing on and expediting processes to support the services offered to our clients, staff, partners, volunteers and community.
The role assists with all facets of service delivery, safety, compliance, customer service and effective management of the day-to-day operations of our branches. The role requires exceptional organizational, time management and project tracking abilities, the ability to travel to our regional branches, as well as strong communication skills.

Key responsibilities
Operations
- Relieve regional and Perth Metro Branch Managers when required;
- Assists managers with day-to-day management of operational activities, proactively responding to and resolving issues as they might arise ;
- Prepares and maintains operations procedures, documents, and reports, making suggestions for improvements for efficiencies;
- Coordinates and manages projects and tasks to ensure project delivery occurs within budget whilst resolving issues to achieve timelines;
- Work closely with Branch Managers and Senior sales & network manager to build budgets in accordance with Foodbankwa guidelines;
- Provide excellent customer service and effectively handle customer complaints and queries;

- Build and maintain effective working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders;
- Coach the team on the right service behaviours;
- Assist with inducting and training the team;
- Ensure that merchandising standards fit with business requirements
Relationships
- Identifies and builds relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (including clients, agencies and service providers);
- Monitors and manages stakeholder relationships, keeping stakeholders informed, identifying needs, and ensuring a continuous provision of quality service;
- Ensures clear communication channels are established with stakeholders, including procedures for both internal and external queries and complaints;
- Liaises with all stakeholders and management to achieve smooth operational efficiency;
- Ensures compliance with Foodbank WA standards and procedures;
- Provides guidance and support to internal teams to achieve performance targets and objectives;
- Builds and maintains strong and effective relationships through regular meetings and communications; and
- Liaises with clients, suppliers, contractors, management, staff and volunteers in an efficient and timely manner.
Reporting
- Assists with managing budgets and preparation of reports for senior management;
- Monitors and reports on key operational performance indicators
- Monitors and reports on all branch funding;
- Reports on critical information regarding operational efficiency and opportunities for process improvements; and
- Monitors and analyses monthly financial reports, for our branches.
Other duties
- Conducts general and administrative office tasks as required;
- Works closely with Human Resources to coordinate staff training; and
- Troubleshoots issues that arise on a daily basis.
Essential Criteria
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar role;
- Extensive experience in reading financial trading reports and preparation of trading reports;
- Extensive experience in administration and retail operations
- To have a passion to make a difference in WA, within a Non-Profit Organisation;
- Proven operations experience with demonstrated knowledge of warehousing, logistics, and retail operations;
- Proven ability to work autonomously, under pressure and meet deadlines within a team environment;
- Excellent customer service skills and exceptional verbal and written communications skills;
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities to achieve successful outcomes;
- Excellent management skills;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent time management and attention to detail;
- Must have experience in business change management;
- Demonstrated ability to relate to a work force which is predominantly volunteer based;
- High level of computer literacy with advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
- Flexible and positive attitude to change; and
- Must be able to frequently travel to regional WA
Desirable Criteria:
- Understanding of Non-for-profit organisations and Community based Human Services Provision;
- An understanding of Microsoft Dynamics PI systems;
- Qualification in a community related discipline;
- Knowledge of HACCP procedures and safety system; and
- Current and valid WA Forklift licence
