Agency Purpose
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The Team
You will join a high performing team of leaders across the country that facilitates the readiness of the agency and the proper conduct of the election, upholding the Electoral Integrity Framework.
You will be based out of our Perth office, travelling to other sites as required, pending on the teams you manage. You will also support a diverse and geographically dispersed network, working closely with our National Office and the other States and Territories.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a strong leader who is agile, self-motivated, and results-driven to manage election planning, delivery and evaluation for Western Australia.
You will be responsible for focusing strategically on the agency objectives to facilitate the adoption of best practice across the broader leadership network, while also managing your team in operational planning, election delivery and providing public services and support to enhance both business as usual and election planning activities.
Prior to and during the election time you will also be responsible for assisting with the mobilisation of over 10, 000 temporary election workforce staff, including using your excellent leadership skills to support your staff to manage the significant number of employees in this surge workforce.
You will contribute to the development of team objectives for short-term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiatives for WA, including setting priorities, maintaining team cohesion, and ensuring quality of outputs.
Suitable applicants may be considered for future opportunities with the AEC in Western Australia. Roles available will be dependent on the changing business needs and requirements of the AEC. Future opportunities may be filled on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis.
To excel you’ll have:

Ability to communicate, while using interpersonal styles with internal and external stakeholders to suit changing situations, with the ability to quickly adapt and respond to rapid change and recognise the need to adjust methodology.
A positive attitude to meet key deliverables in a dynamic and challenging environment, with the ability consistently deliver results and achieve project goals, working in a systematic, methodical, and orderly way while monitoring and maintaining high quality standards.
Desirable
Ability to apply specialist and technical expertise and share knowledge with others with a commitment to continual professional development.
Ability to rapidly learn new tasks and demonstrate understanding of newly presented information encouraging and role modelling an organisational learning approach.

Eligibility
AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
