About the Role:
Provide manual labouring skills, operation of plant and equipment required for the construction, maintenance, repair and assessment of Councils water and sewer reticulation assets
Undertake operation of vacuum tanker/truck and CCTV equipment
Assist in the maintenance of water supply system and wastewater drainage systems within the Council area
Acquire, process and document water and wastewater data in electronic and hard copy format
Respond to emergency call-outs when rostered and be willing to work on weekends when rostered
Promote information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision-making, enhance capability and optimise capacity
Contribute to the performance of Council: demonstrate professional conduct, make the best use of knowledge, experience and skills and be accountable for own decisions and actions
Contribute to a safe workplace: comply with legislative and organisational requirements and be accountable for own decisions and actions
About You:
To be successful in this role you will have:
Appropriate relevant experience in water and wastewater operations and maintenance
Good level of communication and literacy skills
Construction Induction White Card
Commitment to undertake confined spaces training courses including refresher courses
Physically fit to complete all aspects of the position
Demonstrated ability to work, participate and communicate in a work team environment
Demonstrated commitment to Work Health and Safety
Proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Be willing to work on weekends when rostered and respond to emergency call-outs when rostered
Current Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence, maintaining a valid licence is a condition of employment
Desirable criteria:
Operational experience and knowledge in maintenance activities related to water and wastewater network assets, including competencies in operation of large and small plant, tools and equipment
Knowledge and skills in the use of computer applications including email, Microsoft Office suite and other work related systems e.g. maintenance programs and GIS mapping
Ability to interpret engineering drawings
Ability to learn pipeline construction skills for the laying of water and wastewater mains
Demonstrate analytical and problem solving techniques
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant safety practices and an understanding of the Work, Health and Safety Act 2011
Current First Aid Certificate or equivalent
