Teller is a multi-purpose venue in the heart of busy Lygon Street, Brunswick East. Our beautiful venue has five unique spaces, featuring an intimate 40-seater front bar, a light-filled 80-seat pavilion, a laneway courtyard bar with a retractable roof, an upstairs function space, and a private dining annex. We can host any occasion, from weddings, corporate dinners, family gatherings, and a quick midweek meal to a casual catch-up with friends.
Teller’s concept features a casual yet up-market experience with a shared-style menu, complemented by 12 rotating beers on tap, amazing cocktails and a carefully curated wine list; we are synonymous with the Brunswick East drinking and dining scene. ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a hands-on role; as Assistant Venue Manager, your role will work alongside and report directly to the owner-operator. You will be a key senior team member and oversee all dining and service experiences for our guests and staff. The role would be responsible for all recruitment, training, and day-to-day food and beverage business operations.
We offer a full-service dining experience; our ideal candidate would have a strong dining and restaurant background. We are seeking someone who is organised and has excellent attention to detail. We want someone who is customer service driven and leads our staff by example to deliver outstanding guest experiences. In addition, they would have a solid understanding of hospitality operations and know what it takes to run a successful business.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a comparable position
- Highly adaptable and able to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure service periods
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on staff training, development and culture.
- Organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive nature.
- Be able to maintain and develop operational procedures to ensure excellence in customer service and venue offering.
- Senior experience across all service technologies, including online booking management, rostering and reporting - SevenRooms, Tanda, Bepoz,Google Suite etc.)
- A proven track record of managing beverage COG's and wage targets.
- Strong understanding of efficient rostering and wage management, knowledge of Tanda highly regarded.
- Experience in recruitment & rostering and the ability to create and lead engaging training programmes for the staff.
- Worked closely with the Head Chef to ensure a seamless operation between front and back of House operations and a positive working environment.
- Ability to work proactively in quiet periods and be able to assign jobs to staff to ensure the venue is ready for service.
- Be able to take direction and execute our SOP’s in line with the owner-operator's vision.
- Flexible availability, with nights & weekends a must.
- A genuine passion for giving warm and engaging hospitality.
- Excellent all-round knowledge of food and wine.
