 How your role will make an impact for First Nations Outcomes

In this role, you'll play a key part in developing and implementing strategies to enhance policy advice, frameworks, and public investments for First Nations people in New South Wales. Your primary focus will be leading the design and implementation of a First Nations budget model, guiding sector-wide investment advice. 

The position requires strong cultural capability, demonstrated experience working with First Nations communities, and a deep understanding of the policy landscape. You'll also support the Director in leading a diverse team in a high-pressure, culturally sensitive environment, fostering collaboration and skill development.

This role liaises extensively with other areas within Treasury, with NSW government agencies and equivalents in other jurisdictions across Australia, and with external stakeholders.

Achieve success as an Associate Director

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW. 

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following:

  • High degree of First Nations cultural competency
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working on First nations related policy and with First Nations networks
  • Strong understanding of public sector financial management and budget processes
  • Experienced in leading and managing a team
  • Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong project management capabilities; and
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
