Stepping into the heart of the NSW Government

You will have an invaluable opportunity to create a positive impact for the people of New South Wales. You will be challenged to provide the best outcomes possible in this role while developing and growing your own skills.

When you join Treasury, you join an organisation that is a whole-of-government financial and economic advisor. Treasury is a critical component of the government and provides advice that informs a wide range of financial, economic and policy driven work for the state of NSW.

We consider work-life balance a key feature of being employed here. You will have the flexibility to manage your work schedule around times that best suit your life outside of the workplace and in line with organisational needs.

Enrich your career with the NSW Treasury

While we are certain you will already have your own expertise to ensure success in this role, you will also continue to learn and improve your skills in core areas, including:

  • Project Management - Managing projects, including planning, organising, and coordinating activities to ensure timely delivery of outcomes, particularly during the annual budget process.
  • Financial Acumen - A strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting processes, and fiscal management is crucial. This includes knowledge of government finance and Budgetary procedures.
  • Policy Analysis - Ability to analyse complex policy issues, assess their implications, and provide insightful recommendations. This involves understanding the broader economic and social context.

You will join our Policy and Budget Group and will be working within the  Budget  Division. Read more about your future Group and Division.

As you grow in your role at Treasury, there may be opportunities to be a subject matter expert and to be a key contact for the business group. This may lead to opportunities to move into leadership.

Transform and develop your career in a central government agency that is invested in you.

The Associate Director role will provide you with the opportunity to expand your network as you will have the chance to work with multiple teams, agencies, external stakeholders, and organisations to help shape your career.

Investing in you

The team you will join is made up of a diverse and welcoming group of people. We understand what starting a new job is like, and to ensure you have the most positive experience we will ‘Buddy’ you up with a team member to help settle you in.

Just some of the benefits of working with Treasury include:

  • Accrue quarterly flex time for any hours worked over the standard hours, and enjoy true work life balance
  • Continuous learning initiatives to invest in your career. We invite subject matter experts to share their knowledge and expertise during in-house education sessions, and online training is at your fingertips to access.
  • A healthy workplace, both mentally and physically. Our Wellbeing at Treasury curriculum offers regular seminars. From opportunities to connect with colleagues to boost social connection, to seminars on creating better financial health and physical and psychological wellbeing.
  • A range of leave to support you with your needs out of work including generous paid parental leave, carers leave and more.
