Internal Audit Manager

What can you expect?

We are looking for a talented and motivated Audit Manager to join the team in Melbourne. The mission of the Internal Audit Department is to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve Marsh McLennan's operations.

In this role you will help Marsh McLennan accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. This is a great opportunity for an auditor coming from either a corporate or consulting background looking to gain broader exposure to financial, operational, compliance and technology audits.

We will count on you to:
  • Lead audits of the organisation's financial, operational, compliance and technology controls to identify areas of risk and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure that audit activities are conducted in accordance with established standards and procedures, including the Institute of Internal Auditors' International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
  • Take overall responsibility for the audit cycle, including detailed planning, executing control testing, producing the audit report.
  • Demonstrate effective project management to ensure the timely completion of audits.
  • Assess risk and controls thoroughly, developing conclusions on risks and controls which are insightful, and supported by evidence.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with impact, including producing clear planning materials and concise audit reports.
  • Interact with stakeholders, providing insights and information related to internal control issues and risk management.
  • Monitor the implementation of audit actions and oversee the follow up of any outstanding issues.
  • Stay up to date on developments in the field of internal auditing and recommend changes to audit practices and procedures as needed.
  • Counsel, direct, supervise and formally evaluate the audit engagement team. Review their work on a timely basis for adequacy and possible improvements.

What you need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, technology or a related field.
  • Fully qualified accounting/finance/audit professional designations (e.g. CPA, CFA, CIMA, CIA).
  • 6 years+ experience in internal auditing, including managerial activities.
  • Investments or superannuation industry experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of internal auditing standards and practices, as well as risk management and internal control frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess risks and develop effective audit plans and recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to exercise discretion, work independently within broad guidelines, tactfully handle sensitive and confidential data and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • The desire and ability to coach and manage several associate managers /senior /staff auditors.
  • Experience with data analytics and audit automation tools preferred.
  • Willingness to travel.
