We are looking for a passionate and experienced baker or Pastry Chef to join our team and growing business located on the beautiful South Coast of NSW.

About Slow Dough

Slow Dough is an artisan-style bakery specialising in sourdough breads as well as a rotating menu of sweet and savoury treats, inspired by seasonal and local produce. Birthed from Richard and Lucy’s garage during Covid, Slow Dough was conceived with the philosophy of bringing people together around good, wholesome food. We don’t compromise when it comes to sourcing quality ingredients and we make all products in-house, from scratch.

The bakery moved to its new home in Kiama, NSW in January 2024 after renovating the former minister’s cottage adjacent to the centrally located Kiama Uniting Church into a commercial kitchen, including state of the art baking equipment. The bakery is currently open three days a week - Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a growing wholesale business too.

The opportunity 

We’re looking for an experienced baker or Pastry Chef to assist Richard with the production of high-quality and unique baked goods, with the opportunity to contribute creatively to designing the weekly rotating menu and assist with food inventory planning. 

This person will have the opportunity to be part of building and growing Slow Dough, including the opportunity to develop and grow into a leadership role as we further grow the team and hire apprentices over time.

This is a full-time role working Wednesdays to Sundays. No night shifts. 

The ideal candidate 

We’re looking for a team player who shares our values when it comes to making good, wholesome food; takes initiative, and is excited to be part of a small, growing business, working in a fun and positive environment. 

Additionally, the ideal candidate has:

  • Relevant trade qualification and experience working in a bakery or restaurant environment*
  • Strong knowledge of food and workplace safety standards. A current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is highly preferable. 
  • Full working rights in Australia.

*Whilst baking or pastry qualifications and experience is highly preferable, we are also open to considering chef experience and someone whose skills would be complementary to Richard’s in developing a high-quality and unique offering.
