Australian Energy Regulator
Board Member
- Full-time Board Member
- Call for expressions of interest
Energy Ministers are seeking expressions of interest for a full time Board Member.
The AER exists so that Australian energy consumers are better off, now and in the future.
The AER is a high-performing regulator that:
- Is independent, open and accountable
- Builds trust in Australia’s energy system
- Takes considered risks
- Ensures the regulatory regime is fit for purpose
- Engages actively with stakeholders
The AER focuses on ensuring a secure, reliable and affordable energy future for Australia as it transitions to net zero emissions. It regulates wholesale and retail energy markets, and energy networks, under national energy legislation and rules. The AER has functions in all states and territories except Western Australia.
We are particularly encouraging expressions of interest from experts in one or more of the following areas:
- Development and/or utilisation of enforcement and compliance approaches
- Complex markets monitoring and analysis (competition, market power and market manipulation)
- Engineering
- Corporate governance.
The appointment will be made by Energy Ministers.
The AER offices are nationally distributed (Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney) and board meetings are conducted by video conference, so the location of Board Members is flexible.
The AER’s Board provides strategic leadership for the AER, in a very significant sector of the economy. This is a rare opportunity to make a lasting, positive impact during a time of rapid transformation of the energy sector.
