Mareeba Heritage Centre Inc was established in 1995, with the support of both state and local government authorities, members, businesses, non-profits, foundations, clubs and volunteers. The Centre located at 345 Byrnes Street is a Council owned facility, held in trust by Mareeba Shire Council. The Mareeba Heritage Museum and Visitor Information Centre purpose is to enhance visitor’s and the community’s experience of the Mareeba district through the preservation and promotion of our culture and heritage; and to motivate visitors and locals to explore the culture and diversity of Mareeba, the Tablelands and Outback.

About the Mareeba Heritage Centre team
The Mareeba Heritage Centre team consists of a Manager with operations management experience, a Bookkeeper, Volunteers and a Volunteer Board of Directors.
We are a dedicated team of passionate locals whose goal is to serve our community and celebrate our area’s rich and varied history. Staff and Volunteers play a pivotal role in the Centre's success.
We are led by an enthusiastic and committed Board who share their insights and expertise to help develop the Centre. Their perspective, influence and networks are strengths that are critical in enabling our ability to serve the community through our operations and programs.
The Role
The Bookkeeper is responsible for accounts management and financial services supporting Mareeba Heritage Museum and Visitor Information Centre delivering information on accommodation, activities and local attractions to tourists and visitors.

Key Accountabilities
- Accurate payment processing and reconciliation
- All overdue payments are attended to in a timely manner
- Accurate lodgment with relevant authorities within required deadlines
- Accurate reporting within required deadlines
- Effectively engages with clients regarding discrepancies and balances, handling these situations professionally
- Efficient use of software programs and uploads all required information
- Completes all other administration duties as required
- Friendly, approachable phone mannerisms
Qualification & Experience - Essential
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in an accounts administrator, bookkeeper or similar role
- Proven experience using MYOB and Microsoft Office
- Current Queensland C Class Drivers Licence
Qualification & Experience - Desirable
- Experience with ACNC organisations
- Experience in board reporting
