Medium Rare, Australia's leading content marketing agency, is looking for a Branded Content Senior Editor to ideate and create high-quality commercial content for Qantas, their Frequent Flyer partners and high-value advertisers.

You'll be joining a fast-growing business with a flexible working environment offering stability, balance and great culture. This is a hybrid role, based in our Sydney office but with the opportunity to work part of your week remotely.

You'll take a leadership role in Rare Creative, the agency's energetic and fast-growing Branded Content studio, and will work closely with sales and account service, design and our in-house multimedia video and podcast teams to develop innovative content for digital publishing platforms, social media, video and print channels.

You're a written and visual storyteller who can take a brief, marketing objective or strategic insight and translate it into content that delivers strong results.

With a background in digital or print publishing (at a media company, agency or brand), you'll be comfortable writing and commissioning editorial copy of the highest standard. You'll think like a publisher/journalist and, at the same time, a marketer - ensuring rich content aligns with commercial objectives and performance.

You'll also have an eye for amplifying content to large audiences on social media. You'll write captions that soar and work with our design team to generate social assets that will excite audiences and drive the best results for every post on every platform.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ideate and produce high-quality digital copy, social media assets, video concepts and scripts, as well as print magazine executions.

  • Working predominantly on Qantas magazine, Qantas Travel Insider and Qantas social channels, you'll write or commission commercial content for a range of partners and advertisers. An in-depth knowledge of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program would be very beneficial.

  • Manage the workflow of Branded Content production, balancing multiple concurrent projects and managing a team of in-house and freelance resources.

  • Work closely with clients to agree on concepts, execute them within editorial guidelines and liaise on revisions. An exceptional eye for detail is essential.

  • Use social media channels and email newsletters to amplify content - maximising engagement but also driving action. Maintain a monthly social media schedule, compiling captions and visual assets tailored to drive clicks and engagement on each platform. You'll rely on existing data sources and build your own bank of insights to ensure we consistently offer best-in-market digital campaigns.

  • Ideate, research and write across a broad range of topics, including travel, business, food and wine, style, homes and technology, and keep a close eye on trends in these areas.

  • Work closely with Medium Rare's video team to create exceptional video for clients, for use on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and more. This includes writing scripts and story boarding concepts.

  • Work with the Rare Creative team to develop and pitch creative concepts to help win briefs and new business. This includes working closely with the strategy and insights team on ideation, assisting in proposal writing and sales decks and working with the design team to direct creation of mock-ups.

Who are you?

  • Five years' experience as a writer or content producer at a media publisher, agency or brand. We need someone with skills to tell a story across all channels, so solid experience in print, digital and social content is essential. Video script writing and storyboarding and newsletter experience will be highly regarded.

  • High-level organisational skills and demonstrated experience juggling multiple deadlines and concurrent projects.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of all social media platforms, best practice and specifications. You will know what will perform best on Instagram Stories vs Reels vs Tiktok, how to supercharge click-throughs and make sure content is optimised to perform on each platform.

  • You're an innovator with a love of learning. You're always looking for new ways to wow clients and drive results.

  • Knowledge of SEO writing and analytics is advantageous.

  • Commissioning and copy editing experience, as well as the ability to manage freelance writers and subs within an editorial budget.

  • Ability to think visually and direct visual assets, including social content, videos and ad creative.

  • Experience writing presentations and pitches is preferred but not essential.

  • Ability to work fast and to tight deadlines, while always maintaining an eye for detail and highest of quality.

  • Excellent communications skills to work with both sales and creative teams, as well as driving positive and productive conversations with clients and stakeholders.
