The Role:
- Analyse construction drawings, specifications, and other project documents to determine project requirements and scope.
- Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project conditions.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and project information.
- Review and analyse project plans and specifications to identify potential issues, discrepancies, or cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare and present comprehensive cost estimates to internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrate knowledge about industry trends, market conditions, and new materials/methods to ensure accurate estimates and cost-effective solutions.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Proven experience as a Building Estimator, particularly in the residential construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes/regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in relevant software applications and estimating tools.
- A relevant degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
