Position Title: BuildingMaintenance Officer (Trade Qualified) Department: Development Services Program: Parks and Environment Position Objective Inspect and carry out general maintenance on Parks built assets and ensure that they are safe, well-maintained and compliant with Australian standards. Key Responsibilities Shall include, but not be limited to: Undertake comprehensive visual inspections and condition audits of existing Parks built assets including picnic shelters, park furniture, shade structures, amenity buildings, and fencing. Provide direction to maintenance staff. Carry out trade level installations and repairs of existing park built assets. Raise work requests for non-scheduled maintenance tasks and close-out work orders. Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation and Australian Standards pertaining to the Queensland Building Industry. Operation and maintenance of small plant including power tools and equipment relevant to the position. Use technological devices for communication, data collection and work order system. Complete scheduled works and contribute to the completion of specific projects. Meet customer and stakeholder requirements while maintaining Council's image and reputation. Other responsibilities as directed by your immediate supervisor within the scope of this position. Position Capabilities Qualifications (Includes Formal Qualifications, Licenses, Tickets, Registrations and Professional Memberships) Essential Trade Qualification in a related field such as Carpentry, Building and Construction, Painting and Decorating or similar relevant trade. Conduct visual inspection of park facilities General Construction Induction Training QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent Elevated Working Platform High Risk Work Licence Working at Heights Desirable Use explosive power tools Operational inspection of park facilities Medium Rigid (MR) Licence Experience Essential Sound trade level experience in general Building Maintenance and/or construction. Sound practical experience planning and organising projects. Sound practical experience in the maintenance and operation of a wide range of machinery associated with repair/maintenance and general maintenance, including power tools. Experience in providing direction to small work teams. Practical experience in asset inspection and investigations including the use of asset data management systems. Knowledge Essential Working knowledge of relevant plant and equipment. General knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, Local Laws and Policies pertaining to Parks and Reserves. Desirable Knowledge of the principles of arboriculture. Special Requirements Occasional out of hours work (including weekends). Regular local travel. Requirement to undertake physical work in a variety of outdoor environments. Requirement to complete work as part of emergency management response, subject to prevailing conditions at the time.
